[Review] Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

It's finally cold outside, but it's raining too so meh. I wanted to do a review about the new mascara I picked up. I take a lot of car pictures, can you tell? I can actually see lashes in this picture! Which is good in my book.
I've been disorganized this break, and in the process misplaced my current mascara. So yesterday, I finally went ahead and purchased a new one: the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, $6.99

I purchased this from CVS for $8.99, but you can buy it cheaper at Target and probably Walmart for $6.99.

I usually get any Maybelline mascara in waterproof and Blackest Black, but for some reason I couldn't find it. The only waterproof I could find in the store was for Very Black, so that's what I ended up buying.

The wand is curved, and I have a love-hate relationship with it. It coats my lashes nicely, but it is a little too big and application can be messy if I'm not careful and slow. It's a pain to apply mascara on my bottom lashes with this wand, and I usually need to grab a q-tip to clean up some of the mess (which is an extra step I would like to avoid).

I have the usual thin and flat Asian lashes, with oily eyelids, so non-waterproof formula is useless for me, as I'll end up looking like a panda only after 2 hours.
My phone camera may have not captured it nicely, but the mascara does a great job of giving volume. My lashes already do have some slight length, as you can see from the before picture. However, they are ridiculously straight! I literally hold the lash curler to my lashes for 20 seconds each just so I'm able to hold a curl. The before picture looks like my lashes are longer than the after picture because of the curl and angle.

The mascara did a good job of not weighing down my lashes, and kept my lashes curled throughout the day.

And yes, I prefer spider lashes over no lashes.

Final Verdict:

4/5 - Good volume and it didn't budge with my oily lids and face. I only wish it would've give length as well, which didn't hit the mark for me. The wand also doesn't seem to have a good design for my eye shape, which made applying the mascara messy and uneven. I would probably use up this product, but wouldn't repurchase.
